Fair Play Code for Parents & Spectators

  • I will not have unrealistic expectations.
  • I will respect the official’s decisions and I will encourage participants to do the same.
  • I will show respect for my team’s opponents, because without them there would be no game.
  •  Parents will have positive comments only. We will provide our child with positive encouragement before, during  and after the game. 
  • Respect the organizations governing Softball. We will respect and adhere to the ideals, policies and rules determined by Softball Canada, Softball PEI, and our child’s team. 
  • We will respect all of  the facilities where our child will play
  • We will respect all game umpires and scorekeepers. We also understand there are some new to umpiring and/or scorekeeping and they are also developing new skills.
  • We understand that coaches, assistant coaches, managers, and scorekeepers are volunteers and we will respect them and support them.
  • We will not question the coaches’ decisions when our child is present and we will refrain from approaching the bench during a game.
  • We will show respect for the feelings of our child, our child’s teammates and the players on the other team.
  •  We will avoid coaching from the stands.
  • We will notify the coach/manager with a reasonable amount of time if our child will be absent.
  • We will express great sportsmanship, and have a  positive attitude at all times. We will refrain from yelling, using foul language, physical abuse or otherwise demonstrating frustration or anger before, during, or after games or practices.
